Abstract
In this paper we present a program for the inclusion of Angolan students in Portuguese higher education. These students have a communicative and linguistic repertoire that clearly distinguishes them from their peers: they speak and write in Angolan Portuguese, they have had no previous contact with oral interaction in European Portuguese and their schooling experience in Angola has not developed language and communication skills required in Portuguese higher education. Based on this sociolinguistic profile, a workshop was organized aiming at the development of the following skills: oral comprehension, expression and interaction, reading texts and images, language awareness in reading context and three types of writing production. To better promote the integration of the Angolan in the academic community, the workshop tutors are peer students educated in Portugal.
