Abstract
This article focuses on the role that social media platforms of portuguese high school Student Associations (AEs) have played in promoting youth civic engagement. The data, collected through a series of interviews with young people involved in associations, reveal that social media has created unique, accessible, and dynamic spaces within schools. These platforms provide new ways for students to engage with topics of interest, serving as "the only means of connection between students".
