Abstract
In recent years, although there have been major developments in child care, the tension between caring / educating is still one of the dilemmas of early childhood education, especially in the daily pedagogical practice of some early childhood teachers, because in theoretical terms, there is consensus on its inseparability.
The present text is supported by a study on this subject, performed as part of the Supervised Teaching Practice component of a Master's Degree in Pre-School Edu-cation, which sought to understand how caring was present in the pedagogical practices of the co-operating educators and the meaning and value attributed to it.
The study was developed based on an action research methodology, taking a qualitative approach, which includes information collection and processing pro-cedures that complete the whole investigative process, namely documentary re-search, interviews and observation using photographs and field notes.
Through the analysis of the information collected and the intervention carried out, an action rooted in an involvement between care and education from an integra-tive perspective stands out, promoting and valuing the creation of affective bonds between the adult and the child, which are essential for the well-being of all those involved. .
