Abstract

This article aims to present the study entitled "Artistic and cultural practices for the inclusion of students from Portuguese-speaking countries – a case study at the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal", within the scope of the Master's degree in "Education, Artistic Practices and Inclusion", and carried out at the Higher School of Education of the Polytechnic University of Setúbal (IPS).

The study's results highlight a growing demand for students from Portuguese-speaking countries (PLOP) in IPS courses, a trend that is widespread in other Portuguese higher education institutions, and these students face differentiating constraints compared to other students in Portuguese higher education.

Among other measures, the study concludes that artistic and cultural practices can play a role in promoting interculturality, facilitating the dissemination of activities and services of the educational community and also the local community, and acting as catalysts for cultural rapprochement and interpersonal dynamics among students, faculty, and staff, thus promoting mechanisms for inclusion, participation, prevention of absenteeism and school dropout, and potentially attracting new students.
